Targeted Selection

In a rapidly changing, highly competitive labour market, demand for making judicious, informed decisions about people you recruit or retain
can impact on business sustainability into the future.

What is Targeted Selection?

Targeted Selection is a behavioural interviewing method and process used to evaluate applicants competencies against selection criteria
to make the right appointment decisions.  It is based on the assumption that past behaviour is the best predictor of future behaviour.
It is favourable to many businesses as it is reliable if the same questions are asked of each applicant in order to allow equal and fair
comparison of the quality of the answers.  It is also often called the STAR or CAR method of selection allowing gathering of the whole
person profile including experience, knowledge, competencies and motivations.

Why Targeted Selection?

  • Hones recruiters and managers interviewing skills to make the right selection and retention decisions.

  • Prevents interviewers from veering off course and asking invalid - or worse - illegal - questions.

  • Leaves applicants with a favourable impression of your business and enhances public image.

  • Enables your business to train your own people on behavioural interviewing techniques.

  • Incorporates behavioural interviewing as a consistent part of a validated talent aquisition system.

  • Improves retention by helping you select people who are engaged and who will be a good fit within your business.

  • Enable interviewers to gather information on specific technical skills, clearly outline expectations to applicants; and

  • Start new people off with the right information.
